"by exposing the truth about state government the mainstream media won’t tell you; by holding elected officials accountable when they support liberal policies; and by persistently fighting to give voice to those who feel they’re not being heard."

Durham Colored Library, Inc. (DCL, Inc.) is one of Durham’s oldest non-profit organizations. Its board is dedicated to the mission of “lifting up stories about African Americans, both current and historical, to help create a more comprehensive picture of the American experience.”

- North Carolina Citizens for Public Health, Inc. (NCCPH)
NCCPH is a 501(c)(3) organization that grew out of a 1976 Citizens' Conference on Public Health at which participants expressed a strong need for citizen participation in public health and recommended the formation of a group to promote citizens' involvement.
- North Carolina Public Health Association (NCPHA)
Founded in 1909, NCPHA is an association of individuals and organizations working to improve the public's health through political advocacy, public awareness, professional development, and the interface between research and practice. NCPHA is the APHA affiliate for North Carolina.
- The Hunt Institute
Established in 2001, the Hunt Institute is a strategic catalyst for transforming public education. The Institute honors the legacy of James B. Hunt, Jr., the former governor of North Carolina who distinguished himself as an ardent champion of education. Our mandate: to inspire elected officials and key policymakers to make informed decisions that result in improving the lives of all children through quality education. In 2016, the Institute became an independent, nonprofit entity and joined forces with Duke University’s Sanford School of Public Policy.
